What Is a Modern Ketubah?
A modern ketubah combines contemporary art with the Jewish tradition of the marriage contract. For most of the ketubah's history the document was the point and the decoration was a border around it — hand-lettered on parchment, framed in calligraphic flourish. A modern ketubah inverts that: the artwork is the piece, designed to hold a wall in a contemporary home, with the text set into the composition rather than boxed by it.
Can a Modern Ketubah Use Traditional Jewish Text?
Yes, and it is the single most useful thing to understand when you are choosing. The artwork and the wording are independent decisions. A fully traditional Aramaic text sits perfectly well inside a contemporary watercolour, and plenty of couples do exactly that. An Orthodox couple can have the modern design; an interfaith couple can have any design in the collection.

How Are Modern Ketubahs Personalized?
Every ketubah we send is personalized before printing. Your names and Hebrew names, your wedding date, the venue and your witnesses are set into the text itself. If you are not sure how a Hebrew name is spelled, tell us the English and we will help you confirm it. You then receive a digital proof to check — and to show your Rabbi — and nothing goes to press until you approve it.

Yes. Interfaith couples have ketubahs, and so do secular and humanist couples. We offer interfaith wording written to honour both partners equally, and secular humanist wording with no religious framing at all, in Hebrew and English.
You can bring your own artist: our Circular Ketubah Text prints your chosen wording in a circular layout and leaves the surrounding space open for them. You can also write the text yourself and we will typeset it inside any design in the collection.
